The Aliaga house dating from May 1536 at the beginning of the founding of the city of Lima. It belonged to Don Jerónimo de Aliaga y Ramírez.
This manor house has around 5 centuries of history next to the city of Lima. After the founding of the city, Captain Jerónimo de Aliaga y Ramírez received this mansion and since then it has belonged to the same family for 17 generations.
It is considered the oldest house in the Americas and its artistic value is priceless, the beauty of its interior space and poetic spaces and corridors.
There is no other house in the entire American continent where the same family continues to live since the official foundation of the city and in the case of the Aliaga family, they have lived in the same home for 16 generations and for more than 480 years. Beyond the rich family history, Casa Aliaga is a jewel of viceregal and republican architecture. Its environments show us the styles that were in fashion in the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries in Lima. It has an important art collection that beautifully decorates the entire property.
This tour also includes a walk through the Plaza Mayor of Lima from where we can take beautiful photos and discover part of its history.
